Echo is a voice journaling app. This page explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Voice recordings. The audio files you record in the app.
- Transcripts and AI-generated reflections. Text derived from your recordings, including titles, summaries, themes, people mentioned, and weekly digests.
- Account identifier. A unique ID that links your entries to your account. We do not require a name, phone number, or social profile.
- Basic usage events. Errors and crashes, used to keep the app stable. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
Where it lives

How we use it
- To transcribe your recordings, we send the audio to OpenAI for speech-to-text processing. OpenAI processes the audio to return a transcript and does not use your data to train their mod[...]
- To generate reflections, themes, and weekly Echoes, we send the transcript text to OpenAI's language models under the same terms.
- We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
Your choices
- You can delete any individual entry from inside the app at any time. Deletion removes the audio file, transcript, and derived reflections.
- You can request full account deletion from inside the app or by emailing us. We will delete your account and all associated data within 30 days.
- You can disable microphone access in your device settings at any time.
Children
Echo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, surface the change in the app before it takes effect.
